Do you want a hassle and stress free way to see the main attractions on the Big Island? Kilauea Military Camp has the answer for you. One of the three arranged tours provided by KMC is the Circle Island Tour. The tour is available on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing at 8:30 am and returning to camp at approximately 6:30 pm.

The tour is designed to highlight the major points of interest around the Big Island with small points of interest included as rest points. Your experienced guide will begin the tour by first heading south to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. At the beach you will see the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, Hono.DSC09969

After departing the Black San Beach your guide will drive you to Punalu’u Bake Shop, the most Southern Bakery in the United States. Here you will have the opportunity to sample Hawaiian Sweet Breads and of course purchase wonderful Hawaiian treats. DSC00170

Next the journey continues to Pu’uhonue O Hanaunau (the Place of Refuge) on the Kona Coast. At the Place of Refuge traditional Hawaiian lifestyle has been preserved. Take a step back in time and wonder through this ancient Hawaiian village that now serves as a sanctuary for native wildlife.

While at KMC a must is joining in on one of our prearranged guided tours. KMC is located inside Hawai’i National Park and just one mile from the  Summit of Kilauea Volcano. The national park is nearly 520 square miles and extends all the way down to the Pacific coastline. We understand the task of exploring this massive park may be daunting to embark upon yourself and our experienced guides will be more than happy to show you the most interesting and impressive sites within the boundaries of the park and give you great insight on how this one-of-a-kind park has came to be.

The park itself is home to jungles, deserts, volcanoes, and rugged coastline. The guided tour will take you to the Summit of Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano, where steam is consistently billowing from her vent. Other highlights on the tour include the Kilauea Iki Crater, the massive Thurston Lava Tube, and Mauna Ulu.

Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Seats for the tour can be booked in advance or upon arrival at KMC. Call (808) 967-8333 for reservations or more information.
