Do you want a hassle and stress free way to see the main attractions on the Big Island? Kilauea Military Camp has the answer for you. One of the three arranged tours provided by KMC is the Circle Island Tour. The tour is available on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing at 8:30 am and returning to camp at approximately 6:30 pm.
The tour is designed to highlight the major points of interest around the Big Island with small points of interest included as rest points. Your experienced guide will begin the tour by first heading south to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. At the beach you will see the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, Hono.
After departing the Black San Beach your guide will drive you to Punalu’u Bake Shop, the most Southern Bakery in the United States. Here you will have the opportunity to sample Hawaiian Sweet Breads and of course purchase wonderful Hawaiian treats.
Next the journey continues to Pu’uhonue O Hanaunau (the Place of Refuge) on the Kona Coast. At the Place of Refuge traditional Hawaiian lifestyle has been preserved. Take a step back in time and wonder through this ancient Hawaiian village that now serves as a sanctuary for native wildlife.
After immersing yourself in native Hawaiian Culture at Pu’uhonuau O Hanauau your guide will take you to Kailua-Kona. Here you will have the chance to stroll down Alii Drive and have lunch in one of the many eateries lining the Kona Bay.
After lunch in Kailua-Kona your driver will head back towards the Hamakua coast via Waimea Country. While driving through Waimea you will make a stop in Parker Ranch, home of the largest ranch in Hawaii, covering nearly 135,00 acres.
